YUMI – Multiboot USB Creator

YUMI (Your Universal Multiboot Integrator), is the successor to our MultibootISOs. It can be used to create a Multiboot USB Flash Drive containing multiple operating systems, antivirus utilities, disc cloning, diagnostic tools, and more. Contrary to MultiBootISOs which used grub to boot ISO files directly from USB, YUMI uses syslinux to boot extracted distributions stored on the USB device, and reverts to using grub to Boot Multiple ISO files from USB, if necessary.
Aside from a few distributions, all files are stored within the Multiboot or yumi folder (depending on version), making for a nicely organized Multiboot USB Drive that can still be used for other storage purposes.
Important Note: YUMI was intended to be used to try to run various "LIVE Linux" Operating Systems from USB. Installing Linux from the YUMI created USB Drive to a Hard Drive is not officially supported. If the installer portion of any Live Linux distro does work, consider it a bonus.

Creating a YUMI Multiboot MultiSystem Bootable USB Flash Drive
YUMI works much like Universal USB Installer, except it can be used to install more than one distribution to run Live from your USB. Distributions can also be uninstalled using the same tool!

Although the normal method of running Hirens Boot Disk is to burn Hiren’s.BootCD.15.1.iso to a CD and then boot from the CD, an easier and more versatile method is to burn the Hirens Boot CD ISO to a USB Flash Drive.
This has to be one of the most useful things I have come across recently – it gives you a portable fast-loading stripped down copy of Windows XP that boots fast from a USB flash drive. You can boot a dead or malfunctioning system, copy data – such as valuable images and files – back to the USB flash drive. It can also be used to recover the drivers from a dead system, and passwords – such as Windows XP or Windows 7 product key, Office product key etc.

This  is an easy way of making a Bootalble USB FlashDrive for Hirens Boot Disk

Yumi is run as a stand-alone installer. 

Insert your USB Flash drive and run Yumi. Your flash drive will be detected.

In the Yumi Multiboot Menu, scroll down to Hiren’s Boot CD and browse the location of your downloaded Hiren’s.BootCD.15.1.iso and press Create

An 8gb Flash drive leaves considerable space for copying and moving data from an unbootable PC – so we can add a folder called RECOVERED where we can copy data from the PC we are working on.

3: Booting a dead PC with the Bootable Hiren Boot USB Flash Drive

1. To boot from the Bootable Hiren Boot CD USB Disk, the boot order needs to be changed, so that the computer will t boot from the USB Storage before the hard drive
   
2. It is often possible to change the boot order by pressing F12 or F8 just after the system starts to power up – this image shows the Boot Menu that comes up after pressing F12 on a Dell PC.
3. If the system won’t boot from the Bootable Hiren Bootcd USB Disk – you need to change the boot order in the BIOS
4. Just after the system starts, press Del or F1 to enter the Bios. The boot order can be set usually from the Advanced Boot Configuration menu.
5. If the bios is password protected, open the PC and remove the CMOS battery for a moment or so. This should remove the password protection (and all other bios settings – which will need to be set up again – usually only the Date and Boot order are essential)
6. Allow the system to boot up from the Bootable Hirens USB Flash Drive

I will show you how to download Hiren’s Boot CD 15.2 and how to prepare a memory stick with Hiren’s Boot. Hiren’s Boot is the most used tool by the technical personnel because it has several systems of beginning as the mini Windows XP, beginning Linux and a beginning D.O.S this added to a great quantity of tools (which I show you clearly in several tutorials that you will find in this page) they do it the suitable tool for any technician in computer science.

The advantages of preparing a memory stick(Pendrive) with Hiren’s Boot are:

1. The speed of beginning is faster than a CD.
2. We can use it in PC’s that do not have optical readers
3. Avoid the expense of a CD. A memory can be re-used all the times we want.

Installation

1. We create a folder called Hirens Boot in the office.
2. Double click in the file Hirens. BootCD.15.2.zip and then we unzip it in the folder that we created in the previous step.
3. We execute the Program Universal USB Installer.
4. In the drop-down menu we select the option Hiren’s Boot CD give him click to the button browser and look for ISO in the office in the folder Hirens Boot.
5. We select our USB memory and select the cabin “We will format?:\Drive ace Fat32 (the information will be erased of the USB memory).
6. Finally we click in the button “Create “

Hiren’s Boot cd is an awesome Boot CD and it contains all the free tools you need to fix any PC in trouble. One of the utilities I needed that was not included in the ISO file was Ghost32.exe. Ghost is a license product so in order to add Ghost functionality you will need your own licensed copy. This post will show you how to create an Ghost32.uha and insert it into the boot ISO.
Hiren’s creators made everything simple for us, when you hit the Ghost option in the HBCD menu | Programs you will see the following error:

File Misssing: HBCD\WinTools\Files\Ghost32.uha
use HBCDCustomizer.exe and add your files.

The error message above give a big hint on what is missing, where is the files supposed to be and what utility to use. Follow step below if you have no clue on how create the .uha file and create the new ISO boot image.

To create Ghost32.uha import into your Customized BootCD follow these steps:

1. Go to the folder where your files original Hiren ISO files were extracted and click on HBCDCustomizer.exe.
2. Click on Extract ISO
3. 
4. ISO file contents will be completely extracted into a folder called “MyBootCD” in your root or C: Drive.
5. Create folder called c:\ghost or anything  you like.
6. Copy C:\MyBootCD\CD\HBCD\uharc.exe and ghost32.exe to C:\ghost or the folder you created.|
7. Open up CMD screen. (Start \ Run \ type CMD and hit enter)
8. In the black CMD or dos prompt browse to that folder.
9. --  cd \    >> change directory to root or C:\
10. --  cd ghost   >> to change directory to c:\ghost
11. --  you should see 2 files if you type dir command (uharc.exe and ghost32.exe)
12. -- type uharc a Ghost32.uha ghost32.exe (this will create a Ghost32.uha file)
13. 
14. - Copy this Ghost32.uha file and save it under C:\MyBootCD\CD\HBCD\WinTools\Files
15. - Once done copying the Ghost32.uha launch the HBCDCustomizer.exe window and click on "Make ISO" button or browse to C:\MyBootCD and click on “Make ISO.bat” batch file and this will create your new MyHBCD.iso.
16. - Final step is to burn this into a CD and test it out.
